{"id":139991,"date":"2018-06-12T10:02:21","date_gmt":"2018-06-12T10:02:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/freeonlinetranslators.net\/news\/english\/llanbradach-fire-house-explosion-not-caused-by-gas-mains\/"},"modified":"2018-06-12T10:02:21","modified_gmt":"2018-06-12T10:02:21","slug":"llanbradach-fire-house-explosion-not-caused-by-gas-mains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/freeonlinetranslators.net\/news\/english\/llanbradach-fire-house-explosion-not-caused-by-gas-mains\/","title":{"rendered":"Llanbradach fire: House explosion &#8216;not caused by gas mains&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure>             <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/images\/ic\/720x405\/p069tv50.jpg\"\/>Media playback is unsupported on your device<figcaption>Media captionPlumes of smoke could be seen after the explosion<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"caps\">A fire and explosion at a house that left five people in hospital was not related to the mains gas network, a utilities company has said. <\/p>\n<p>An eyewitness said the front door &quot;blew off the house&quot; in the incident at Dan Y Darren in Llanbradach near Caerphilly at about 17:30 BST on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>All five suffered burns and one was flown to hospital in Birmingham but the extent of their injuries is not known. <\/p>\n<p>Three casualties were taken to hospital in Swansea and another to Cardiff.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Five in hospital after house explosion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said 25 firefighters had tackled the blaze and it was working with investigators from Gwent Police to &quot;ensure the structural stability of the property&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>Wales and West Utilities said its engineers had isolated the house&#039;s gas supply and that following tests, it could confirm that the explosion and fire were not related to the mains network.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>Image caption                                      Investigations are underway into the cause of the explosion                              <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Crews will then carry out a &quot;full and meaningful investigation to determine the actual cause of the incident.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Neighbour Brian Jenkins, 64, said two air ambulances were at the scene. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;The problem now is the aftermath, the people injured are in several locations spread across Wales and England and the family have to deal with that,&quot; Llanbradach councillor Colin Mann told BBC Radio Wales.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It was an absolute shock what happened.
