{"id":139702,"date":"2018-06-11T18:12:48","date_gmt":"2018-06-11T18:12:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/freeonlinetranslators.net\/news\/english\/daimler-forced-to-recall-mercedes-with-defeat-devices\/"},"modified":"2018-06-11T18:12:48","modified_gmt":"2018-06-11T18:12:48","slug":"daimler-forced-to-recall-mercedes-with-defeat-devices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/freeonlinetranslators.net\/news\/english\/daimler-forced-to-recall-mercedes-with-defeat-devices\/","title":{"rendered":"Daimler forced to recall Mercedes with defeat devices"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure>                                  <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A row of Mercedes Benz cars\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/320\/cpsprodpb\/07E7\/production\/_98332020_mercedes-benz.jpg\"\/>Image copyright                  Getty Images                                                    <\/figure>\n<p class=\"caps\">The German government has ordered car maker Daimler to recall 238,000 vehicles in Germany after they were found to be fitted with unauthorised emissions defeat devices.<\/p>\n<p>In all 774,000 diesel vehicles contain the devices, and Daimler said it would recall them all. <\/p>\n<p>The diesel versions of the Mercedes C-Class, Vito and GLC models are the main ones affected, the ministry said.   <\/p>\n<p>Daimler had said it will remove the software, the ministry added.<\/p>\n<p>It said Daimler had said it would cooperate with the authorities. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;The government will order 238,000 Daimler vehicles to be immediately recalled Germany-wide because of unauthorised defeat devices,&quot; Germany&#039;s Transport Ministry said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Transport Ministry only has authority to force the recall of vehicles within Germany. <\/p>\n<p>Daimler refused to elaborate on where the other vehicles would be recalled. <\/p>\n<p>Confirming the recall, Daimler said the legality of the software would still need to be clarified.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015 VW admitted having fitted &quot;cheat&quot; devices in vehicles that made their engines appear less polluting than they actually were.
