{"id":10398,"date":"2017-03-10T07:36:59","date_gmt":"2017-03-10T07:36:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/freeonlinetranslators.net\/news\/english\/india-washing-machine-launched-with-curry-button\/"},"modified":"2017-03-10T07:36:59","modified_gmt":"2017-03-10T07:36:59","slug":"india-washing-machine-launched-with-curry-button","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/freeonlinetranslators.net\/news\/english\/india-washing-machine-launched-with-curry-button\/","title":{"rendered":"India washing machine launched with &#8216;curry&#8217; button"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure>                                  <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Chef cooking curry\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef-1.bbci.co.uk\/news\/320\/cpsprodpb\/4EB2\/production\/_95064102_currygettyimages.jpg\"\/>Image copyright                  Getty Images                                                    <\/figure>\n<p class=\"caps\">A washing machine has been launched for the Indian market, with a special mode to tackle curry stains.<\/p>\n<p>Panasonic said the introduction of a &#039;curry&#039; button followed complaints from customers struggling to fully get the food off their clothes. <\/p>\n<p>It says development took two years, testing combinations of water temperature and water flow. <\/p>\n<p>The machine has five other cycles aimed at the Indian consumer, including one to remove traces of hair oil. <\/p>\n<p>As part of the development, Panasonic researchers analysed what went into a typical Indian household&#039;s curry dish.<\/p>\n<p>The firm said it then tried to establish the optimal time and water temperature required to remove the stains.<\/p>\n<p>Panasonic said it planned similar machines for other Asian markets, tackling stains specific to those countries, but would not elaborate.<\/p>\n<figure>                                                                                                       Image copyright                  PAnasonic<figcaption>Image caption                                      Panasonic &#039;StainMaster&#039; model is marketed in India to remove curry stains                              <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Only about 10% of homes in India have a washing machine, with most people still doing their laundry by hand.<\/p>\n<p>That means there is plenty of room for market growth, and the electronics giant hopes the India-focussed machine will help it challenge the South Korean manufacturers dominating the sector.<\/p>\n<p>Panasonic told the BBC that about 5,000 of the machines had been sold so far, with a target to sell at least 30,000 by March next year.<\/p>\n<p>Priced at about 22,000 Indian rupees (\u00a3268;$330), the new model costs around 10% more than other washing machines.<\/p>\n<p>Panasonic entered the India market in 1990, first producing rice cookers and then expanding its line to also manufacture air conditioners. <\/p>\n<p>In December last year, the company announced it would set up a factory in the North Indian state of Haryana making refrigerators.<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese firm has associated itself with other headline-grabbing products.<\/p>\n<p>Last year it invested $60m (\u00a349m) in Seven Dreamers, a Japanese start-up which is developing what it claims to be the world&#039;s first robot that folds laundry.  <\/p>\n<p><a rel='nofollow' href=http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-39176358 target=\"_blank\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Image copyright Getty Images A washing machine has been launched for the Indian market, with a special mode to tackle curry stains.
